Trump Announces US-Iran Agreement Officially Signed Without Sanctions Relief Readiness

President Donald Trump has announced that a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran has been officially signed. The statement was made by Trump during his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron. “I am very pleased to say: ‘it has been signed, the agreement has all been signed’,” Trump said. According to information from a senior government official, the cooperation document was signed electronically by President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. This step opens a 60-day deadline for both countries to formulate a final peace agreement. When asked by journalists whether the agreement involves economic sanctions relief for Iran, Trump firmly denied it. “No, it does not involve that,” he replied. Trump then elaborated on the essence of the agreement: “It is really a matter of behaviour. If they do what they are supposed to do, it takes effect.” In addition to discussing the agreement document, Trump also highlighted the complexity of the fighting between Lebanon and Hezbollah. He expressed the US desire to see if they could resolve that conflict. “It seems like that conflict never ends,” he added. Trump also briefly mentioned the strikes launched by the US against Iran last week. He admitted regret that the situation required the US to take such military action. “I feel bad that we had to strike back for two nights,” Trump revealed. Nevertheless, Trump still expressed hope that the US and Iran could build a good relationship in the future. However, he also affirmed the US position if this agreement fails midway. “If not, we go back to where we started, but I don’t think that will be necessary,” he concluded. Regarding the formal signing ceremony scheduled to take place this weekend in Geneva, Switzerland, Trump confirmed he would not attend in person. The task will be delegated to Vice President JD Vance, who will sign the document physically. A senior US official added in a joint press conference with reporters that the complete details of the memorandum of understanding signed by the US and Iran will be released publicly within the next “24 to 48 hours”.
