Trump angry as Israel attacks Iran's desalination plant
Moscow (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump was angry when Israel attacked a desalination plant in Iran several weeks ago, according to an Axios report on Tuesday, citing a senior US official. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the water desalination facility on Qeshm Island, Iran, had been hit by the attack. “He wanted to ensure that everything was proportional in this war. That is why he (Trump) was angry when Bibi (Netanyahu) attacked the desalination plant in Iran several weeks ago,” the official said, as quoted by Axios. On 28 February, the US and Israel launched attacks on several targets in Iran, including in Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties. Iran retaliated by attacking Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East. The US and Israel initially claimed their “preventive” strikes were necessary to counter threats perceived from Iran’s nuclear programme, but they soon clarified that they sought regime change in Iran.
