Trump and Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Not Yet Agreed on US-Iran Peace Deal, Reports Say

MOSCOW — President of the United States Donald Trump and Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei have not yet finalised agreement on a framework deal between the two nations, The Telegraph reported on Monday (25 May 2026). Although a general framework has been drafted, final approval is still required from Trump and Mojtaba Khamenei, according to the report citing an unnamed US official. Meanwhile, a Gulf region source told The Telegraph that regional leaders have urged Trump to accept a ceasefire proposal to stabilise the situation in the area. Previously, on Sunday (24 May 2026), Fox News reported that the US-Iran framework deal was 95 per cent complete, though negotiations were still debating wording over the Strait of Hormuz and Tehran’s nuclear material supplies. On 28 February, the US and Israel launched attacks on Iranian targets, killing over 3,000 people. On 8 April, Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire. However, further talks in Islamabad ended without clear results. Although no announcement of resumed conflict was made, the US began imposing a blockade on Iranian ports. Previously, US President Donald Trump stated that the deal with Iran was essentially agreed upon, with final details being discussed before announcement.
