Trump Agrees to Suspend Attack on Iran for Two Weeks
US President Donald Trump has agreed to suspend the attack on Iran. Trump will delay the attack on Iran for two weeks.
In a statement posted on the White House X account, as seen on Wednesday (8/4/2026), Trump issued a condition to Iran. Namely, Iran must fully open the Strait of Hormuz.
“Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir from Pakistan, where they asked me to delay the use of destructive force that was to be sent tonight to Iran, and on the condition that Iran agrees to the full, immediate, and safe opening of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attacks against Iran for a two-week period. This will be a two-way ceasefire!” Trump said.
According to him, an agreement between the US and Iran will be reached. He also spoke about long-term peace with Iran.
“We are very close to achieving a definitive agreement on long-term peace with Iran, and peace in the Middle East. We have received a 10-point proposal from Iran, and believe that it is a workable basis for negotiation. Almost all various points of contention from the past have been agreed upon between the United States and Iran, but the two-week period will allow that agreement to be completed and finalised,” Trump explained.
