US President Donald Trump stated that the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner would not hinder him from the war with Iran. He believes the incident is most likely not related to that conflict. “This will not stop me from winning the war in Iran. I don’t know if it’s related to that, I really don’t think so, based on what we know,” Trump said during a press conference at the White House after the shocking security incident, as reported by AFP on Sunday (26/4/2026). Trump said “You never know” whether it could be linked to the war against Iran or not. He stated that investigators are probing the motives of the shooter, whom he described as a “lone wolf” or lone actor. Previously, Trump cancelled his envoy’s trip to Pakistan for peace talks with Iran. This was done after he claimed to be unimpressed with Tehran’s negotiating position following nearly two months of war. On Saturday night, Trump attended a dinner with White House journalists’ association at the Hilton Washington DC hotel. The shooting then occurred outside the ballroom where the event was held. Secret Service agents immediately rushed in and evacuated Trump and other US officials. The shooter has been arrested and identified as Cole Tomas Allen. He is a 31-year-old man from California.
