US President Donald Trump has admitted that the United States sent a large quantity of weapons in an effort to arm Iranian demonstrators. However, the effort failed because the weaponry sent by Washington was seized by certain groups and did not reach the hands of the Iranian demonstrators.

The admission, as reported by AFP and Al Arabiya on Tuesday (7/4/2026), was made by Trump when speaking to reporters at the White House Easter event on Monday (6/4) local time.

Trump stated that the weaponry was intended to help anti-government demonstrators fight against Tehran’s authorities.

“We have sent weapons, a lot of weapons, those weapons were supposed to be given to the people so they could fight these thugs,” Trump said in his statement.

“Do you know what happened? The people who received the weapons kept them,” he revealed.

“So, I am very disappointed with certain groups of people, and they will pay dearly for it,” Trump said, without specifying which group he accused of taking the US supply of weapons.

However, on Sunday (5/4), a Fox News reporter’s report indicated that Trump blamed Kurdish intermediaries for taking the weapons intended for the Iranian rebels.

Meanwhile, in one of his statements to reporters, as reported by Reuters, Trump also said that the US has “a lot of intercepts” from Iranian civilians, which he claimed urge the US not to stop efforts to overthrow the government from power. He made this claim without clear evidence.

“They (Iranian civilians-ed) are willing to suffer for freedom,” Trump claimed.

Trump Threatens to Destroy Iran in One Night

Trump, previously in a White House press conference, said that Iran could be destroyed in one night, when he warned Tehran to reach a ceasefire agreement no later than Tuesday (7/4) night, or face broader US bombing.

“The entire country can be destroyed in one night. And that night might be tomorrow night,” Trump said in the press conference on Monday (6/4) local time.

“I hope I don’t have to do it,” added the US President.

Trump imposed a deadline on Tuesday (7/4) night US time for Iran to agree to a ceasefire deal or face a massive attack on power plants and other critical infrastructure. He demanded that Tehran relinquish nuclear weapons and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
