San Francisco (ANTARA) - The administration of US President Donald Trump plans to appoint senior immigration official David Venturella as interim director of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to a report by CBS News on Tuesday (12/5) local time. Venturella is expected to replace Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons, who will leave the agency at the end of May, the report stated, citing a spokesperson for the US Department of Homeland Security and two US officials. According to the report, Venturella has previously worked at ICE under both Republican and Democratic administrations, and rejoined the agency last year after Trump returned to the White House. Before returning to ICE, Venturella worked at GEO Group, one of the largest private prison companies operating immigration detention centres across the US. He also previously worked at the Immigration and Naturalization Service, which has since been disbanded.
