Trump Administration Launches $10 Million Reward Programme for Information on Iran's New Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei
The United States Government under the leadership of President Donald Trump has launched a competition offering millions of dollars to anyone who can provide information about Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.
The competition is wrapped within a programme called Rewards for Justice, announced by the US Department of State to obtain further information about Iran’s new leadership.
“This includes Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei and the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani,” according to reporting from Al Jazeera on Saturday 14 March 2026.
Mojtaba Khamenei was selected as the new Supreme Leader to fill the power vacuum following the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as a result of a US air strike.
The appointment of the 56-year-old figure immediately triggered severe shockwaves across global markets. Crude oil prices were reported to have surged beyond the $120 per barrel level on Monday, marking the highest figure since 2022.
The US Department of State has set a reward of up to $10 million, equivalent to 169.6 billion rupiah (at the rate of 16,960 rupiah per dollar), for anyone able to provide the requested information about Mojtaba and other Iranian leaders.
In the circulating poster, it was also noted that the information is of the kind that could make someone eligible for “relocation”.
“These individuals lead and direct various elements of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), which plans, organises, and carries out terrorist acts around the world,” the poster states.
The United States has previously issued similar reward programmes to gather information about political enemies in various countries. For example, in 2025 the US offered $10 million to those who could provide information about Taliban leaders in Afghanistan, such as Sirajuddin Haqqani.
A similar reward value was also previously offered to anyone who provided information about al-Shabab leaders in Somalia in 2022.
