Trucks with smuggled logs seized
PONTIANAK, West Kalimantan: Security forces here have seized at least 17 trucks carrying smuggled logs at the Entikong checkpoint in West Kalimantan, which borders Indonesia and Malaysia.
Officials at the province's forestry office said on Monday the trucks were seized on Saturday when visiting Minister of Forestry M. Prakosa made an air inspection by helicopter at the border area.
At least six of the trucks, which tried to smuggle logs from West Kalimantan, had Malaysia's vehicle registration numbers, the local officials said.
The case has been handed over by the West Kalimantan forestry office to the local police for further legal processing.
Prakosa told journalists during the visit that the Malaysian government decided on June 24 to stop wood imports from Indonesia. --Antara
