Trucks Parking on Cakung-Cilincing Road Shoulder Face Crackdown

Police have taken action against trucks parking haphazardly on the side of the Cakung-Cilincing road in East Jakarta. The trucks parked on the roadside caused traffic congestion in the Cakung and Cilincing areas of North Jakarta.

One of the enforcement locations was on Jalan Babek TNI Cakung-Cilincing, North Jakarta. The trucks were found parked on the road shoulder up to the turnaround point for Jakarta Garden City (JGC).

“The North Jakarta Traffic Unit took action against truck drivers parking illegally so as not to cause traffic congestion,” stated TMC Polda Metro Jaya via its X account, @TMCPoldaMetro, on Friday (24/7/2026).

Traffic police officers were seen dispersing the trucks parked on the roadside. The trucks parking on the road shoulder caused the road to narrow to a single lane.

Not far from the location, officers installed barriers at the JGC turnaround point. The barriers were set up so that container trucks intending to make a U-turn would queue in the right lane.

“The traffic situation at the JGC turnaround on Jalan Cakung Cilincing, North Jakarta, barriers remain installed while vehicles turning around are kept to one lane to avoid traffic congestion,” the statement said.

The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) also took action against trucks parking on the road shoulder. Officers on the ground urged drivers to move their trucks immediately and took firm action against drivers who did not comply.

“We urge all transport business owners and trailer truck drivers to always park their vehicles in official parking pockets or the nearest buffer areas,” said the North Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency (Sudinhub Jakut) on its Instagram account @sudinhub.jakut.

The Transportation Agency stated that parking on the road shoulder along logistics routes causes road narrowing and is one of the main triggers for traffic accidents and congestion. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has provided the nearest buffer zone parking at the Tanah Merdeka Freight Terminal.

“Let us be orderly in traffic for our shared comfort and safety!” the agency stated.
