Truck Stuck on Tendean Footbridge During Evacuation, Traffic Towards Blok M Congested
A truck carrying heavy equipment became stuck after crashing into a pedestrian bridge (JPO) on Jalan Kapten Tendean, South Jakarta. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday (14/7/2026) at around 01.28 WIB, caused the bridge structure to sustain severe damage and nearly collapse.
According to the Traffic Management Centre (TMC) of Polda Metro Jaya, the accident took place on Jalan Kapten Tendean No.85, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, in the direction of Santa. Traffic heading towards Blok M was heavily congested as officers worked to handle the situation. Motorists were advised to avoid the Tendean route towards Blok M, with images from the scene showing vehicles moving at a crawl.
The collision left one of the bridge’s support pillars nearly destroyed, rendering the stairway section of the footbridge unusable. The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) reported that the driver of the towing vehicle failed to account for the maximum height of his load. It is suspected that the driver was distracted by a mobile phone at the time of the incident. Although the driver saw the pedestrian bridge, he did not realise the height of the unit he was transporting would hit the structure, causing extensive damage.
