Truck Stuck at Kramat Jati Footbridge, Pramono Prepares Sanctions for Operator

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has spoken out regarding the incident of a truck becoming stuck under a pedestrian footbridge (JPO) in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta. Pramono said he has instructed his staff to investigate the alleged violations arising from the incident.

“I will immediately ask the relevant regional apparatus organisation (OPD) to carry out an inspection,” Pramono told reporters in the Sudirman area, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (16/8/2026).

Pramono said he would not be selective if violations were found to have been committed by the truck operator. His administration will impose sanctions, as was the case with the truck that became stuck at the Tendean footbridge last month.

“Firstly, for trucks, we certainly treat them the same in terms of imposing sanctions, whether it happened at Tendean or at the present time,” Pramono explained.

The incident occurred this morning. The truck becoming stuck at the Kramat Jati footbridge caused traffic to back up because the body of the truck was in the middle of the road, blocking the flow of vehicles passing through the area.

“The incident happened this morning. Efforts have been made to ensure smooth traffic flow,” said Kramat Jati Police Chief AKP Pesta Hasiholan Siahaan when contacted.

In viral video footage circulating online, the truck can be seen perched in the middle of the road. The truck was unable to pass because its upper section was stuck under the footbridge.

Traffic flow appeared to be obstructed as a result. Four-wheeled vehicles could not pass, while two-wheeled vehicles could still squeeze through the gap.

Pesta said police immediately moved to the location after receiving the report. The evacuation process has now been completed and traffic has returned to normal.

“The footbridge is safe, it was not damaged. Traffic is flowing again,” he said.
