A PLN power cable snapped and fell across Jalan Kembangan Baru in the Kembangan Utara sub-district, West Jakarta, after being struck by a truck on Monday. The incident caused traffic in the area to be temporarily obstructed, with road users reluctant to pass for fear of being electrocuted by the live cable. Pedestrians even chose to detour off the road rather than step over the fallen cable. The cable break went viral on social media after a motorcyclist filmed the condition of the cable lying across the road. The motorcyclist expressed concern that the broken PLN cable might spark a fire and spread to nearby buildings. The video showed residents gathering at a distance, while on both sides of the broken cable, locals placed barriers to temporarily prevent motorists from passing. Head of Operations for the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service, Syaiful Kahfi, confirmed on Monday that PLN is currently carrying out repairs. β€œIt is now being handled by PLN,” Syaiful said via a short message. He stated that so far there have been no reports of casualties from the incident. Meanwhile, the truck that struck and snapped the PLN cable was no longer visible at the scene.
