Truck hijacked on Cipaku toll road

BOGOR (JP): Three men hijacked a truck carrying 53 loudspeakers and 6.34 tons of fertilizer at the Cipaku tollgate in Tangerang on Thursday, police said over the weekend.

Bogor Police chief Lt. Col. Ade Husen said on Friday his men were tracing the whereabouts of the hijackers and that they had arrested Roni Kristian, an alleged fence for the stolen goods.

The group, Ade said, attacked the truck driver with sharp weapons after asking for a lift near the tollgate.

The robbers bound the feet and hands of driver Japaruddin, 38, and codriver Benci, 40. Both also had their mouths and eyes bound with tape.

"The victims were dumped in the Cijeruk area, while the crooks took off with the truck," the officer said.

According to Japaruddin, who reported the case to the police, he was able to peek under the blindfold and saw a PT Maya Agung Utama signboard on Roni's warehouse when the hijackers were unloading the truck prior to dumping him and his codriver.

The case is being handled by the Bogor Police, pending further investigation. (21/edt)
