Tangerang — New facts have emerged in the collision between a Soekarno-Hatta Airport train and a cement-laden truck at the level crossing near Poris Station, Batuceper, Tangerang City.

Police have indicated that the crossing barrier had allegedly not yet closed when the train passed through. Meanwhile, the force of the impact dragged the truck approximately 100 metres from the initial point of collision.

Tangerang City Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Raden Muhammad Jauhari, explained that the incident occurred at around 06:05 local time. At that moment, the trailer truck was travelling from the direction of Cipondoh towards Daan Mogot.

“As the railway crossing was active, the vehicle entered the railway tracks. The truck’s cab had already crossed the tracks, but the container body was still on the crossing,” he said on Friday, 20 February 2026.

The collision was unavoidable. The container body, still positioned on the tracks, was struck by the train. “It was dragged approximately 100 metres from the railway crossing,” he said.

In their preliminary investigation, police also revealed what happened in the moments before the collision. The train’s siren had reportedly already been sounding, but the crossing barrier had not yet begun to lower.

“So the initial accounts — and these are still under further investigation — indicate that when we took statements, the train’s siren had been activated by the operator as the train was passing, but the barrier had not yet moved,” he said.

According to him, by the time the siren sounded, the container had already entered the track crossing.

“So when the siren was activated, the container was already on the railway tracks. Then the crossing barrier began to move to close,” he said.

“As a result, whilst the truck cab had already passed through, the container body remained behind, because as we know these containers are quite long, so it was the container body itself that was struck,” he added.

The incident had earlier gone viral on social media, with footage showing the moment the truck was clipped by the Soekarno-Hatta Airport train. One post was shared on the Instagram account @warungjurnalis, showing the truck strewn across the level crossing near Poris Station, Batuceper, Tangerang. As a consequence of the collision, the airport train reportedly derailed.

“The Soetta Airport commuter line collided with a truck in Batuceper. One trainset has derailed,” the account reported on Friday, 20 February 2026.
