Truck accident causes total gridlock at Tanjung Priok Port access
Jakarta — A trailer truck accident caused severe traffic congestion on access routes to Tanjung Priok Port in North Jakarta on Friday.
According to Yulza Ramadhoni, head of the operations section for the North Jakarta Transportation Sub-office, the traffic congestion was successfully resolved after the damaged vehicle was towed. “There was congestion due to the accident, and thank goodness we were able to clear it after the vehicle was towed,” Ramadhoni said in Jakarta.
He explained that the truck accident prevented the vehicle from being moved immediately, which obstructed traffic flow. “There was congestion, but after the vehicle was towed, traffic could gradually flow again,” he noted.
Kompol Ridha, head of the traffic unit at the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police, said the trailer truck accident evacuation was completed, and traffic that had been stationary began flowing again. He indicated that accident data collection was still underway and would be reported later. “Traffic is flowing again now,” he stated.
Earlier, around 3:00 PM, long queues formed from Pos Sembilan at the Tanjung Priok Port access point in North Jakarta, extending to Jalan Yos Sudarso. Congestion also occurred in the Cilincing area, from Pasar Waru through Koja General Hospital towards Pos 9, affecting a long stretch of road.
Hundreds of vehicles, including trailers, four-wheeled vehicles, and motorcycles, were stuck in the severe traffic congestion.
