Tronton truck crashes into five motorcycles in Blora, killing one person

A multi-vehicle road crash involving a tronton truck and five motorcycles occurred on Jalan Gatot Subroto, precisely at the four-way traffic-light intersection in Desa Tamanrejo, Kecamatan Tunjungan, Blora Regency, Central Java, on Saturday. The crash involved a Hino Tronton truck with registration L-9771-UA driven by R (49), a resident of Desa Mulyorejo, Kecamatan Tambakrejo, Kabupaten Bojonegoro. In addition to the truck, the vehicles involved included a Honda Beat with registration K-2485-BBE ridden by RF (25); a Honda Beat with registration K-6549-TS ridden by K (27); a Honda Beat without a registration plate ridden by RAS (31); a Honda Supra with registration K-5250-UE ridden by M (59); and a Honda Supra with registration K-3061-QN ridden by K (61). The head of the Gakkum Unit of Blora Police Traffic, Ipda Eko, said the crash began when the truck was travelling from west to east on Jalan Gatot Subroto. “When passing down a slope, the vehicle is suspected to have brake failure, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle,” he said. At the scene, at the four-way intersection with traffic lights in Desa Tamanrejo, several motorcycles were stationary because the traffic light showed red. “Because the distance was already short and the vehicle could not be controlled, the truck then struck the row of motorcycles, resulting in a chain crash,” he said. As a result of the incident, M (59), a resident of Desa Sonorejo, Blora, died after receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, four other motorcycle riders sustained minor injuries. The victims: K (27) sustained abrasions on both legs; RAS (31) showed signs of a fracture on the right hand; M (59) sustained a hematoma at the back of the head and died after treatment; K (61) sustained a cut on the upper lip and abrasions on both legs; RF (25) sustained abrasions on the hands and feet. “All of the victims were then taken to RS Citra Mulia Blora for medical treatment,” he added. Ipda Eko added that the crash also caused material losses estimated at around Rp20 million. “The officers from the Blora Police’s Traffic Unit who arrived at the scene immediately conducted a crime scene investigation, secured evidence, and requested statements from several witnesses for further investigation into the crash,” he said.
