Trisakti Students Remain Outside DPR Building into the Night
An alliance of students from the Trisakti University Student Presidency remained stationed in front of the DPR/MPR RI building to voice their opinions. Based on information gathered by ANTARA in the field, as of 18:32 WIB, a number of students were still delivering speeches. The atmosphere of the protest was also observed to be orderly. Several police officers remained on guard around the DPR/MPR RI complex. Jalan Jenderal Gatot Subroto, the road in front of the DPR/MPR RI building, was still closed by the police to prevent traffic congestion. A total of 4,263 joint personnel were deployed to secure demonstrations at five locations in the Central Jakarta area. “A total of 4,263 joint personnel (from the Regional Police, Resort Police, and Sector Police) are providing services for the demonstration in the Central Jakarta area,” said Central Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Head, First Inspector Erlyn Sumantri, in Jakarta on Friday. Erlyn stated that thousands of joint personnel from the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Central Jakarta Metro Resort Police, and subordinate sector police were deployed to ensure the demonstration proceeded safely and orderly. The masses were scheduled to take to the streets at five points: the South Crossing of Monas, the DPR/MPR, the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, the Tugu Tani monument, and the Ministry of Finance.
