Trisakti Student Executive Body to Protest at DPR, Six Educational Units to Join

Six educational units of Trisakti will join the greater Trisakti University student body to demonstrate in front of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) complex in Central Jakarta this afternoon. Trisakti Student President Dhenni Ribowo stated that, following consolidation at Trisakti University, students from six educational units will take to the streets. “God willing, many student executive bodies (BEM) and other elements will join and meet in the field,” Dhenni told Tempo on Friday, 19 June 2026. The six Trisakti educational units include the Trisakti Institute of Transportation and Logistics (ITL), Trisakti School of Insurance Management (STMA), Trisakti School of Communication Media (STMK), Trisakti Tourism Institute (IPT), Trisakti School of Management (TSM), and Trisakti School of Economics (STEI). Several student executive bodies from various faculties at Trisakti University will hold the action at the DPR this afternoon. The call to action from various faculty BEMs was uploaded via social media accounts, such as BEM FH Trisakti and BEM STMA Trisakti. The protest is scheduled for 1:30 PM with three main demands. Students are calling for economic and political recovery, the eradication of incompetent officials, and a push to restore civilian supremacy. “BEM FH Trisakti University invites all students and elements of society to attend and voice their aspirations,” read the caption of a post from the @bem.fh.trisaksih account. According to the Trisakti student alliance, the demonstration is a form of oversight of state policy and ensures the upholding of democratic values. Student and civil society demonstrations have been spreading since last week, triggered by the weakening of the rupiah against the US dollar and rising fuel prices. Students from various regions in Indonesia are demanding the government lower staple food and fuel prices and halt programmes strongly indicated to be wasteful, such as free nutritious meals and the Red and White village cooperatives.
