Trial Reveals Acid Thrown at Andrie Yunus Was a Mixture of Battery Water and Rust Remover
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Four members of the Indonesian Armed Forces’ Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS TNI) are accused of carrying out an acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of KontraS. The four defendants disguised themselves as participants in the ‘Kamisan’ action to carry out their malicious act against Andrie.
The four defendants in this case are Sergeant Two Edi Sudarko (ES) as defendant 1; First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi (BHW) as defendant 2; Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetyo (NDP) as defendant 3; and First Lieutenant Sami Lakka (SL) as defendant 4. They are being tried at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Wednesday, 29/4/2026.
According to the military prosecutor’s testimony, the defendants first went to the ambulance car park near BAIS TNI. They took a used battery and rust remover fluid and put it into a purple tumbler. The defendants then began hunting for Andrie’s whereabouts.
“Defendant-1 wore a black cap, a long-sleeved blue T-shirt without a collar, dark blue jeans, and blue shoes to the Kamisan event at Monas,” said military prosecutor Mohamad Iswadi during the trial at Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Wednesday (29/4/2026).
However, upon arriving at the Kamisan event, Defendant-1 did not find Andrie Yunus and decided to search for him at several places such as the KontraS office and the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) building.
“Upon arriving at Monas, the Defendants did not find Andrie Yunus, then the Defendants continued searching for Andrie Yunus at other places,” said Iswadi.
At around 18:30, Defendants 3 and 4 headed to the YLBHI building. They waited at a coffee stall across the street from the YLBHI building while monitoring the situation and conditions. When about to leave, they finally saw Andrie exiting the building on a motorcycle.
“Around 23:00 WIB, Defendant-1 and Defendant-2 met Defendant-3 and Defendant-4 and suggested going home, then when about to leave, Defendant-3 saw Andrie Yunus riding a yellow motorcycle out of the YLBHI office and said ‘That’s Andrie Yunus, he’s leaving on a yellow motorbike’,” said Iswadi.
