Trial of One-Way System in Desa Tapos Tunnel Road, Depok, to Begin Tomorrow
Depok - A trial of the one-way system in the Desa Tapos Tunnel Road, Leuwinanggung Ward, Tapos Subdistrict, Depok City, will be implemented starting Thursday (7/5/2026). This policy is intended to reduce congestion and improve safety at the point that frequently experiences long queues. The Depok City Transportation Agency (Dishub) states that this traffic engineering focuses on the tunnel area, which has long been a vulnerable spot, particularly due to limited space that often causes vehicles, especially trucks, to get stuck. “The implementation of the one-way system is focused on the tunnel area where long queues and goods vehicles getting stuck due to space limitations frequently occur,” said the Head of the Traffic Division of Depok Dishub, Ari Manggala, on Wednesday (29/4/2026), quoted from the official Depok City Government website. Drivers heading to Leuwinanggung, Cikeas, and Cibubur will be diverted via Jalan Raya Tapos and Jalan Boulevard Cimanggis Golf Estate (CGE). Ari explained that the policy is a follow-up to public complaints regarding traffic conditions in the area. “This vehicle flow diversion is carried out because long queues and goods vehicles getting stuck in the tunnel often occur,” he said. The one-way system trial is scheduled to last for two weeks and will be applied until nighttime. During that period, Dishub along with combined apparatus will conduct regular monitoring and evaluation. A total of 20 combined personnel from Dishub, police, Satpol PP, and local elements will be on standby in two shifts, from morning to night. Several preparations have been made to support the trial implementation, from installing traffic signs, street lighting, to placing water barriers and traffic cones. Road markings have also been adjusted to guide users during the policy’s implementation. Dishub urges the public to obey signs and instructions from officers in the field, as well as to adjust travel patterns during the trial period. “This is part of efforts to improve safety and optimise the road network. We hope the public can be patient because this implementation will continue to be evaluated,” said Ari. This policy is expected to serve as a temporary solution to reduce traffic density in the Desa Tapos Tunnel Road area, while also providing material for evaluation for future traffic arrangements.
