Trial of Doctor Tifa in Jokowi Diploma Case Postponed to 13 August
The new indictment hearing for Tifauzia Tyassuma, or Dr Tifa, in the case concerning allegations about the diploma of Indonesia’s seventh president, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), at the East Jakarta District Court has been postponed until Thursday, 13 August next week.
The hearing had originally been scheduled for Thursday, 6 August, but was postponed because the judge was unable to attend due to an official duty.
“The trial of Dr Tifa scheduled for 6 August 2026 has been postponed to 13 August 2026, because the presiding judge of the panel is unable to attend as he is taking a civil service examination,” said Immanuel, spokesman for the East Jakarta District Court, when contacted on Wednesday, 5 August.
It is understood that on Monday, 3 August, Tifa filed a pre-trial motion at the South Jakarta District Court to test the validity of the halt to her prosecution. The application was registered under case number 132/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL.
Regarding the matter, Immanuel said he could not yet confirm whether the postponement of Tifa’s trial was also connected to the pre-trial application.
“As to whether the postponement is due to the pre-trial motion, there has been no confirmation from the panel of judges,” he said.
The trial concerning the allegations about Jokowi’s diploma, with Dr Tifa as the defendant, resumed after the public prosecutor amended the indictment and resubmitted the case file to the East Jakarta District Court. The transfer took place on Wednesday, 27 July, under case number 354/Pid.B/2026/PN Jaktim.
Immanuel said the trial would restart from the beginning, namely the reading of the new indictment by the public prosecutor.
The prosecutor amended the indictment after the panel of judges granted the objection, or exception, filed by Tifa.
The judges ruled that the prosecutor’s indictment was imprecise and vague, and therefore null and void, meaning the examination of the case could not proceed to the evidentiary stage.
