The case of insulting the Sunda ethnic group involving the defendant Resbob, alias Adhimas Firdaus, is approaching its final stage. The trial agenda for the Youtuber has entered the prosecution reading phase.

However, the reading of the prosecution against Resbob has been postponed by the panel of judges at the Bandung District Court. The postponement is due to the public prosecutor not being ready.

“The public prosecutor is not ready with the prosecution. Therefore, the trial is postponed again and will be reopened on Monday, 13 April 2026. Thus, the trial is closed,” stated the Chief Judge Adeng Abdul Kohar, shortly after opening the trial on Wednesday (8/4).

After the trial, Resbob’s legal counsel, Fidelis Giawa, stated that he and his client do not object to the postponement of the prosecution reading. With the postponement, they claim to have time to analyse the examination, proof, witness statements, and others.

“We are fine with it; it’s an opportunity for us to more thoroughly explore the examination of proof, whether witnesses, experts, or evidence,” he said in the courtroom.

Fidelis also hopes that the content of the prosecution to be read by the public prosecutor will be proportional. Fidelis believes that in the trial, there is one thing not proven to have been done by Resbob, namely regarding the occurrence of violence against people or property.

“That means legally, it does not meet the criteria for a verdict to be imposed. It is true that the defendant has apologised and admitted his mistake, meaning socially he is at fault; it is the legal norms that must be tested through the mechanisms of defendant examination, evidence examination, and ongoing proof,” he said.

“We are waiting to see the prosecutor’s stance on the results of this examination. How they compile the prosecution, whether based on trial facts or merely textual legal theories not based on facts,” he added.

In line with his legal counsel, Resbob said he is resigned to whatever is demanded by the public prosecutor. He claims to be sincere about the prosecution that will be read. He said that what the prosecutor demands will be the path to redemption for his sins.

“I am resigned to whatever will be demanded and given to me. I sincerely accept everything. As I said yesterday, this is part of my atonement. Meaning I regret it, and my good intentions are to go through the legal process as best as possible,” said Resbob.

“Thank you to those who have supported and prayed for me. Please accept me as part of the Sunda community, as I mentioned before, I will continue my studies at Unpas and I will prove it,” he concluded.
