The General Chairperson of the Family Welfare and Empowerment Movement (TP PKK), Tri Tito Karnavian, has stated that collaboration between regional governments and the TP PKK is key to accelerating the implementation of various government priority programmes, reaching communities at the family level. Moreover, the government issues a Minister of Home Affairs Decree each year requiring regional governments to budget for activities and programmes related to PKK initiatives within their Regional Apparatus Organisations (OPD). “Thus, the PKK’s function is to mobilise these programmes so they can reach their targets at the grassroots,” Tri said in a statement on Sunday. She made the remarks after attending the peak celebration of the 54th PKK Unity Day at the Claro Hotel Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Saturday. Tri added that the PKK also needs to have clear programmes that are aligned with the regional government’s agenda. In this way, cooperation between the PKK and OPD can be optimised. She also reminded regions to harness the significant potential of PKK cadres. According to her, the presence of cadres spread down to the village and sub-district level is a strategic strength in supporting various government programmes at a relatively efficient cost, as the cadres work voluntarily. On the occasion, Tri also expressed appreciation for the successful organisation of the 54th PKK Unity Day peak event in Makassar. She was grateful that the entire series of activities ran smoothly and was enthusiastically welcomed by PKK cadres from various regions. “Alhamdulillah, the peak event of the 54th PKK Unity Day has been completed. Everything went smoothly, all PKK cadres celebrated this day with joy,” she said. Furthermore, she considered Makassar a special location for this year’s commemoration as it represents Eastern Indonesia and boasts a wealth of culture, cuisine, and crafts. The success of the event was also inseparable from the collaboration between the South Sulawesi Provincial TP PKK and all district and city TP PKKs in the region. In the health sector, Tri also praised South Sulawesi Province’s achievements in supporting the child immunisation programme. She explained that immunisation targets are set by the Ministry of Health, while the PKK’s role is to accelerate their achievement in the field. “Our task is to accelerate the achievement of zero-dose immunisation, and we are grateful that South Sulawesi Province has achieved over 100 per cent in child immunisation,” she concluded.
