Tri Tito Karnavian: Posyandu Must Become More Than Just a Health Service

Tri Tito Karnavian, Chair of the Posyandu Steering Committee, has reminded that Posyandu must no longer focus solely on health services but should become community service centres at the village level through the implementation of six Minimum Service Standards (SPM) areas. She explained that Posyandu have long been known as health service posts because they are heavily utilised by community health centres (puskesmas). However, Posyandu are actually village community institutions that can serve as a means to bring various basic services closer to the public. “Posyandu belongs to the village, it is a village community institution that should provide all kinds of services that must be delivered to the community,” Tri said in a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday. She made the remarks while opening the Socialisation of the Implementation of Posyandu in 6 SPM Areas for 2026 at the East Nusa Tenggara Governor’s Official Residence Hall on Wednesday. Tri stated that the transformation follows the Minister of Home Affairs Regulation Number 13 of 2024, which expands the function of Posyandu into six SPM areas: health, education, social affairs, public housing, public works, and public order and community protection. Through this approach, various programmes such as stunting reduction, improving education quality, sanitation improvements, social assistance, and housing programmes are expected to reach the public more quickly and accurately. Tri also noted that Posyandu cadres play a vital role in supporting the collection of beneficiary data by name and address to ensure more effective government programme implementation. Therefore, the Steering Committee is pushing for the acceleration of Posyandu registration in all villages and strengthening socialisation to regional governments and cadres to speed up the implementation of the six-field Posyandu. “We have planned that starting 1 July 2026, there will be online socialisation. So, once a month we will hold online socialisation to reach a wider audience down to the regional levels across Indonesia,” Tri said.
