Tri Tito Karnavian Emphasises the Importance of Adjusting PKK Programmes in South Papua
Chair of the Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement (TP PKK), Tri Tito Karnavian, has emphasised the importance of adjusting family empowerment programmes to suit the conditions of each region, including South Papua.
The statement was delivered by Tri during the virtual inauguration of Hermina Ewenkos as Chair of TP PKK and Chair of the Provincial Posyandu Development Team in South Papua on Tuesday (28/4/2026).
On that occasion, Tri also encouraged the acceleration of registration for integrated service posts (Posyandu) in South Papua.
She asserted that programme approaches in each region cannot be standardised. Geographical challenges, according to her, must be balanced with the utilisation of local potential, community wisdom, and social solidarity as the strength of family-based development.
Therefore, she encouraged strengthening cross-government collaboration, from planning and budgeting stages to programme implementation, to ensure effective impact at the village and sub-district levels.
Tri also reminded that the South Papua Province has not yet submitted a request for Posyandu registration numbers to the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri).
According to her, this matter needs to be followed up immediately to ensure optimal and nationally integrated development.
The regulation states that Posyandu are tasked with supporting six minimum service standards (SPM), namely education, health, public works, people’s housing, public order and security, community protection, and social affairs.
On that occasion, Tri also conveyed congratulations to Hermina Ewenkos for the mandate she has undertaken.
She emphasised that the position of Chair of TP PKK as well as the Posyandu Development Team has a strategic role in mobilising family empowerment and basic services down to the village and sub-district levels.
“This mandate is not only an honour but also a strategic responsibility to mobilise family empowerment and community basic services to the lowest levels,” said Tri.
This provision is reinforced by Ministry of Home Affairs Regulation Number 36 of 2020, which regulates the national governance of the PKK movement.
Tri emphasised the importance of continuing and expanding good practices that have been running, as well as encouraging the birth of simple programme innovations that have real impacts, such as improving family nutrition, strengthening household economies, and utilising local food potential.
Through these steps, she is optimistic that PKK and Posyandu in South Papua can become the forefront in realising inclusive and sustainable family welfare.
