Jakarta (ANTARA) - The trend of using local products in Indonesia is strengthening alongside the increasing pride of the public in domestic creations, supported by the ease of online shopping access that expands the reach of micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM). Based on the Jakpat 2025 survey, 95% of Indonesian respondents stated they have no hesitation in buying local products. Affordable prices, support for local businesses, and product quality deemed competitive are the main reasons the public chooses domestically made products. The survey also recorded that the most widely used categories of local products by the public are food and beverages at 79%, followed by fashion and accessories at 65%, and beauty and personal care at 59%. In its official statement on Wednesday, Shopee mentioned that the page serves as a destination to find various choices of curated local products based on categories, from women’s fashion, men’s fashion, beauty, to household items. Users can access the page through the “Shopee Pilih Lokal” icon on the main application page. Additionally, users can use the “Pilih Lokal” filter feature when searching for products to display results from local brands participating in the programme. In addition to making it easier for users to find local products, the campaign is expected to support increased visibility for UMKM through the provision of special labels on products joining the “Pilih Lokal” programme. With the growing interest of the public in domestic products, the trend of shopping for local products is considered to have the potential to continue developing and become one of the drivers of strengthening the domestic market.
