The Bandung Municipal Police (Satpol PP) are set to summon the owner of a padel tennis business regarding the suspected felling of trees on Jalan LL.RE Martadinata, also known as Jalan Riau, in Bandung. This action is being taken as the business premises are located in close proximity to the site where the trees were cut down.

Bambang Sukardi, Head of Bandung Satpol PP, stated that the location of the felled trees has been sealed. The authorities will subsequently summon the padel court owner to investigate the incident. “We have carried out the sealing and will follow up on this. Since the Mayor has personally taken interest in this matter, we will summon the owner because up to ten trees were affected,” he said on Saturday (1/8/2026).

He noted that the tree felling is suspected to be linked to the presence of the padel facility. The authorities intend to conduct an investigation and request further statements. “We do not yet know if there is involvement from specific individuals, but the site has been sealed by Satpol PP and will be followed up with further investigation,” he added. He further noted that the suspected illegal felling could be prosecuted under environmental protection laws.

Previously, the Bandung Department of Housing and Residential Areas (DPKP) revealed they had received reports that the felling on Jalan LL.RE Martadinata, specifically in front of the padel court business, took place at night. The perpetrators were reportedly wearing uniforms. Lutfhi Firdaus, Head of Bandung DPKP, stated that a letter had been sent to the Bandung Satpol PP regarding the discovery of the ten felled trees on 3 July. The trees involved included five mahogany trees and five tanjung trees, all approximately 10 metres in height.
