PURWAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Tempat Istirahat dan Pelayanan (TIP) or rest area is one of the most important elements in a toll road journey. The rest area provides a break for drivers in the middle of a long trip, to refuel vehicles, pray, use the toilet, or buy coffee to energise before continuing to the destination. However, the rest area, which was once synonymous with just a stopover, has now been developed towards greater sustainability and providing a recreational touch for visitors. This is what PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk is striving for through its subsidiary, Jasamarga Related Business (JMRB), embodied in the development of Travoy Rest. JMRB’s Director of Toll Road Facility Business, Bimo Esmunantyo, explained that Travoy is not just a word, but an acronym for Travel with Comfort and Joy. That phrase represents the hope given by the Jasa Marga Group to toll road users so they can travel comfortably and enjoyably. Bimo said an example of a Travoy rest area being developed sustainably is on the Cipularang Toll Road, specifically Travoy Rest KM 88A towards Bandung and KM 88B towards Jakarta. He stated that the rest area adopts a service concept that emphasises comfort and travel experience for users. “Travoy is an acronym for Travel with Comfort and Joy. Our hope as rest area managers, as well as road section managers, is to provide the best service at this rest area,” Bimo told Kompas.com at Rest Area KM 88A on Monday (16/03/2026). JMRB is endeavouring to present diverse tenants, from international brands, local businesses, to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM). Visitors need not worry when they feel like tasting local specialities, as JMRB has curated food tenants to provide Purwakarta’s characteristic local cuisine. However, other Nusantara specialities are still available at Travoy Rest. Moving to the toilet, which is a mandatory facility at every rest area, Bimo said that staff are on standby to ensure the toilets are always clean, fragrant, and free. Even breastfeeding mothers receive special attention at Rest Area KM 88A through the provision of a lactation room next to the women’s toilet. Regarding places of worship, they are not provided minimally. There is a mosque that can accommodate up to 1,300 congregants. In fact, based on Kompas.com’s direct observation on Sunday (08/03/2026), local residents around Travoy Rest KM 88A also utilise the mosque as a Qur’an Education Park (TPA), especially during the month of Ramadan.
