Travelling Home for Eid with an Electric Vehicle: How to Keep Battery Temperature Stable
JAKARTA — The use of electric vehicles for long-distance travel, including Eid holiday journeys, is increasingly popular among Indonesians. In addition to relatively more efficient operating costs, electric vehicles are known to have battery management systems designed to maintain stable temperatures during use. Excessively high battery temperatures raise concerns about vehicle performance if not properly managed.
According to Iqbal Taufiqurrahman, Product Expert at GAC AION Indonesia, there are fundamentally no special tips that drivers must follow to maintain electric vehicle battery temperature during long journeys or when encountering traffic congestion. “Essentially, everything comes down to the technology used by each electric vehicle manufacturer. In our AION products, we already use a liquid cooling system that functions to keep battery temperature stable during vehicle operation,” Iqbal told Kompas.com on Monday, 9 March 2026.
Iqbal explained that the cooling system works by utilising a special fluid that circulates to maintain battery temperature at ideal conditions. In this way, battery performance remains optimal even when the vehicle is used for extended periods. However, vehicle owners are still advised to perform routine maintenance. One important aspect to monitor is the condition of the cooling fluid used in the system to ensure its quality is maintained.
“Because we use a liquid cooling system, it is important for users to perform regular servicing. The radiator fluid that functions as a battery coolant must be kept in good condition to ensure the cooling system operates at maximum efficiency,” he said.
Additionally, Iqbal also reminded drivers to avoid driving at high speeds for prolonged periods, particularly during long journeys.
