"Travelling" by Train, Women Can Enjoy the "Female Seatmap" Feature
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has launched an innovative service through the Female Seat Map feature in the Access by KAI app, aimed at enhancing comfort and safety for female passengers.
This feature enables female users to view a more informative seat map when selecting seats for intercity train journeys.
Through this feature, seats booked by female passengers are marked in pink, while seats occupied by male passengers are displayed in grey.
With these markers, female passengers can choose seats adjacent to or in the same area as other women, making the journey feel more comfortable.
“KAI continues to provide services that are responsive to societal needs, from women-friendly facilities, child-friendly access, to disability-friendly amenities,” said Anne in an official statement on Monday (20/4/2026).
Anne stated that various women-friendly facilities are also available, such as women-only trains on the Commuter Line and LRT Jabodebek at certain times, as well as separate men’s and women’s toilets on long-distance trains.
Through the Access by KAI app, female customers can also select seats near other women via the female seat map feature.
For pregnant women, priority seats, special counters, and pregnant mother pins are provided. At stations, KAI offers 120 lactation rooms to support comfort during travel.
From a security perspective, KAI is also enhancing the surveillance system through strengthened operational standards, integration of the Command Centre with the Contact Centre, and the use of CCTV Analytics at stations and on trains.
“We continue to strengthen systems and surveillance, while encouraging customers to mutually safeguard shared spaces so that journeys remain safe and comfortable,” added Anne.
