Jakarta, VIVA – The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) has implemented traffic engineering measures, including one-way systems and contraflow, on several major toll road sections. This is aimed at smoothing vehicle movement during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr return flow. The policy has received positive responses from returning holidaymakers. One of them, Ical, a driver from Majalengka heading back to Jakarta, assessed that the one-way implementation greatly aids journey smoothness, especially compared to previous years. “I think this is a very good policy because, looking back at previous years, the one-way policy has indeed greatly helped holidaymakers to reach home smoothly. I believe the one-way policy implemented during Eid is very helpful for road users,” said Ical. In addition, Ical also appreciated the presence of police officers in the field, who he deemed quick in maintaining traffic order, particularly in disciplining vehicles stopping on the roadside. “I saw several times police officers possibly warning drivers stopping on the roadside, and I think that’s very good, because some road users stopping on the roadside is indeed very dangerous,” added Ical. Not only that, the existence of additional service posts and rest areas was also deemed effective in reducing density. Ical admitted to utilising an emergency rest area for a brief break. “The policy is very good,” Ical emphasised. Similar sentiments were expressed by Bayu, a driver from Pangalengan, Bandung, heading to Depok. He revealed that his journey proceeded smoothly without obstacles, including when passing the contraflow point in Cikampek. “Our journey from Pangalengan, Bandung, at 11:00, alhamdulillah, went smoothly without any stuck traffic. When entering the Cikampek merge, there was contraflow, everything was smooth. It’s quite helpful because in terms of time, it felt like a normal journey, no problems,” said Bayu. Bayu also assessed the active role of police officers in the field as very helpful in maintaining traffic flow smoothness, especially in dispersing vehicles stopping on the roadside. “That helps because first, to regulate traffic flow, from the side of fatigued drivers who stop on the roadside, it disrupts, from the police’s activity, they better regulate the traffic flow to remain smooth,” added Bayu.
