Travellers Advised to Avoid Peak Return Flow of Eid al-Fitr Exodus on 24 March
The peak return flow of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr exodus is predicted to occur on 24 March. Jasa Marga has urged travellers returning home to avoid that date.
“Our prediction for the return flow is on 24 March. Therefore, to ensure the public remains comfortable, they can check all information on road density to avoid 24 March, either before or after,” said the President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero), Rivan Achmad Purwantono, at the Jasa Marga Toll Road Command Centre (JMTC) in Jatiasih, Bekasi, on Friday (20/3/2026).
On the same occasion, the Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan, urged the public to return after 24 March. This advice was given to prevent the return flow from being concentrated on a single day.
“The government urges, with the provision of work-from-home (WFH), at least to schedule not returning on the peak flow. Please return on the 25th, 26th, 27th up to the 29th. Thus, the peak flow can be distributed across each day,” said Aan.
Aan then reminded about the regulations for three-axle vehicles on the roads, referring to the applicable Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB). He emphasised that vehicles with three or more axles, trailer trucks, and similar vehicles are prohibited from operating until 29 March.
“We urge logistics transport operators, especially those restricted, to comply with the existing SKB until the 29th,” Aan stressed.
“For the restriction on goods transport with three or more axles, trailers, and prohibited transport operations until the 29th,” he added.
