To mark Eid al-Adha 1447H, the Masjid Taqwa Lampoih, located in Peukan Baro District, Pidie Regency, Aceh Province, has begun facilitating the distribution of qurban animals. To date, the committee has received seven cows and three goats donated by local residents as well as people living abroad.

Masjid Taqwa Lampoih Saka has long been known as a traveller-friendly mosque and a popular religious rest stop on the Banda Aceh–Medan national route. Its strategic location attracts many travellers or pilgrims from outside the region to perform prayers and rest briefly on their journey to the provincial capital.

Chairman of the Mosque Welfare Body (BKM) Taqwa Lampoih Saka, Bukhari Thahir, revealed that the number of qurban animals is expected to rise as Eid approaches. This is driven by the homeward-travelling tradition of migrants and increasingly wide information about qurban donations at the mosque.

‘Insha’Allah the numbers will increase further as the day of slaughter approaches,’ he said.

The plan is for the slaughter of the qurban animals to take place on the first day of Eid al-Adha after the Eid prayers. The meat will be distributed to worshippers and local residents, and reserved to assist those who require special attention.

Bukhari invites philanthropists who wish to donate qurban animals or cash to contact the committee without hesitation. The BKM is prepared to facilitate the entire process, even for donors who cannot attend the site in person.

Secretary of the BKM Masjid Taqwa Lampoih Saka, M. Nasir Sarong, added that the spirit of qurban is hoped to bring broader benefits to the community.

‘The more sacrificial animals, the wider the distribution and more people will benefit. May this qurban worship be a charity in the same spirit as the exemplified sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim with his son Ismail,’ concluded M. Nasir.
