Transportation on Idul Fitri

The government has always paid attention to the problem of
transportation and security during the Idul Fitri holiday.
Jakartans who want to visit their hometowns during Idul Fitri for
a get-together with relatives welcome the government's concern
about the need for comfortable and safe transportation to cope
with public demand.

However, there are some problems that need to be addressed.

* The bus crews tend to increase the fares as soon as
authorities' control is eased. The government's plan to deploy
two security persons in every bus to monitor the ticketing system
has never been implemented.

* Sanctions must be imposed on the companies that violate the
government's instructions.

* A number of guard posts should be established along the road
to supervise the implementation of the regulations as drawn out
by the government. Orderliness and security should be given due
attention.

We hope that the government provides more buses for the coming
Idul Fitri to ensure better and more convenient services to the
public.
