Transportation Agency Tightens Illegal Parking Supervision in Cawang After Crackdown
The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has tightened supervision of parking on Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo, Cawang, East Jakarta, following a crackdown on vehicles parked in violation of regulations. Officers were deployed until late at night, and monitoring will be conducted regularly to ensure parking rules are adhered to.
The supervision follows a joint operation by Dishub DKI, the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), and supported by the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to clear illegal parking in the area on Friday (26/6).
“We listened to public feedback and observed the conditions on the ground. That is why we stepped in to conduct the enforcement,” said Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin, in a statement on Saturday (27/6/2026).
A total of 250 joint personnel were deployed in the operation. As a result, four vehicles were towed after their owners failed to move them despite being given the opportunity to do so.
The enforcement did not stop there. Dishub DKI continued its supervision until around 11:00 PM Western Indonesia Time. Officers were stationed to ensure compliance with the parking ban on the east side of Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo, heading towards Cililitan, between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
Budi emphasised that enforcement and supervision will continue in stages at various locations based on field evaluations and public reports.
“The enforcement is carried out fairly, without discrimination, and consistently. All vehicles, whether two-wheeled or four-wheeled, parked in violation of the rules will be subject to enforcement in accordance with applicable regulations,” he stressed.
Dishub DKI will also ensure that supervision on Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo is conducted periodically together with relevant stakeholders. This is to ensure that parking regulations are complied with so that community and business activities can proceed without disrupting road function or traffic flow.
Meanwhile, Head of the East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency, Harlem Simanjuntak, stated that officers remain on site to ensure business operators follow the rules.
“Following the afternoon enforcement, officers remain on guard to ensure the parking ban from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM is adhered to. After that time, visitors’ vehicles may park in accordance with applicable regulations, namely arranged in a single parallel row without double parking, so as not to disrupt traffic flow,” said Harlem.
During the supervision, traffic flow on Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo, both towards Cawang and Cililitan, was observed to be busy but smooth. Based on field monitoring, after 9:00 PM, vehicles belonging to culinary area visitors began parking in accordance with the rules. Cars were seen parked in a single parallel row, thus no longer encroaching on traffic space.
For information, on the west side of Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo heading towards Tanjung Priok, on-street parking is permitted with a 45-degree angled pattern, except between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Meanwhile, on the east side heading towards Cililitan, parking is permitted with a parallel pattern, except on weekdays between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Outside these hours, vehicles may park in accordance with applicable traffic signs.
