The government has announced that the utilisation rate of the transport sector stimulus programme, in the form of fare discounts during the 2026 school holiday period, has reached its previously set target.

For railway transport services, KAI Daop 1 Public Relations Manager Franoto Wibowo reported that the 30 percent discount for all economy class service routes, provided from 20 June to 5 July 2026, was utilised by 1,303,191 customers. “This number is equivalent to 37.8 percent of the total 3,451,031 customers who used railway services during the 2026 school holiday period,” Franoto said during a media discussion in the Tanah Abang area, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, 29 July 2026.

He noted that optimal utilisation occurred on the peak travel day of 5 July 2026, with a total of 254,939 customers taking advantage of the fare discount programme. Consequently, compared to the same period in 2025, there was a surge of approximately 11 percent in implementation. “In 2025, the number of customers utilising the discount programme reached 1,173,612 passengers,” he stated.

Franoto added that this achievement resulted in budget absorption for the transport service stimulus programme reaching IDR 90.96 billion, or approximately 94.53 percent of the allocated budget ceiling. “For train journeys during this school holiday period, KAI operated a total of 176 trips, consisting of 150 regular trips and 26 additional train trips,” Franoto said.

Meanwhile, the 100 percent port service fee discount programme for foot passengers, Group II and IVA vehicles, and 14 ferry crossing ports (8 routes) from 20 June to 5 July 2026 was also optimally utilised by the public. Group Head of Commercial Shipping Business at PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), Rizki Dwianda, reported that the programme’s realisation was utilised by 1,251,711 users, or 93.30 percent of the 1,206,585 target beneficiaries.

“The production achievement is 93.30 percent, where almost all of our customer types experienced an increase. This is a positive signal, because we always believe that if transportation increases, the economy will definitely grow. That is a given, it is certain,” Rizki said.

Furthermore, the 30 percent discount programme for all economy class passenger ship routes operated by PT Pelni, held from 20 June to 15 August 2026, was also reported to have been optimally utilised by the public.
