Transport Ministry's indicative budget ceiling for 2027 set at Rp28.34 trillion

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi stated that the Ministry of Transportation has been granted an indicative budget ceiling of Rp28.34 trillion for the 2027 fiscal year. “The Ministry of Transportation has received an indicative budget ceiling of Rp28.34 trillion for the 2027 fiscal year,” Dudy said during a working meeting with Commission V of the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Wednesday. He explained that the programme composition of the indicative ceiling consists of Rp19.10 trillion, or 67.48 percent, for the connectivity infrastructure programme. This is followed by the management support programme at Rp7.60 trillion, or 26.84 percent, and the education and vocational programme at Rp1.63 trillion, or 5.78 percent. Dudy further explained that the 2027 indicative ceiling of Rp28.34 trillion, when compared to the strategic plan funding indication for 2027 of Rp46.21 trillion, reveals a gap of Rp17.87 trillion, or 38.67 percent. Meanwhile, compared to the required budget ceiling for 2027 of Rp55.16 trillion, there is a gap of Rp26.82 trillion, or 48.62 percent. “We can convey that from the indicative ceiling of Rp28.34 trillion, several national transportation operational needs remain unmet. These budget requirements consist of safety support amounting to Rp7.98 trillion, service support of Rp9.17 trillion, pioneer services of Rp957 billion, and personnel expenditure of Rp2 trillion,” Dudy said. Dudy continued that the Ministry of Transportation is proposing an additional budget of Rp20.11 trillion, directed at ensuring the fulfilment of safety aspects, public services, regional connectivity, and the ministry’s operational sustainability. The Ministry of Transportation is strengthening policy implementation towards zero tolerance for over-dimension and over-loading (ODOL) vehicles by 2027, comprehensively from upstream to downstream, to enhance transport safety and national logistics efficiency. Director General of Land Transportation Aan Suhanan stated that to realise Zero ODOL 2027, the problem of over-dimension and over-loading transport can no longer be handled partially but must be addressed comprehensively from upstream to downstream. He noted that many view the ODOL issue merely as a traffic violation on the road, but he stressed that all parties must see it as a safety issue that needs to be handled from upstream to downstream because it involves a logistics transport ecosystem. He said the comprehensive handling of over-dimension and over-loading vehicles is based on an action plan that has been prepared by the government. He mentioned that all involved stakeholders are currently processing steps to address the problems within the logistics transport ecosystem, so that the issue of over-dimension and over-loading trucks can be resolved comprehensively from upstream to downstream.
