Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Transport (Kemenhub) is preparing seven guiding principles for the concept of the National Transport System Bill (RUU Sistranas) as the foundation for building a national transport system that is integrated, sustainable, adaptive and equitable for the public.

“We have prepared seven ways of thinking for the drafting of this National Transport System. These principles may evolve and we will incorporate them later,” said Risal Wasal, Director General of Transport Integration and Multimoda at the Ministry, when met on the sidelines of the National Seminar and Inauguration of the Central Board and Professional and Ethics Council of the Indonesian Transport Society (MTI) for the 2025-2028 term of office in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He outlined the seven concepts of the RUU Sistranas. The first is the formulation of an integrated transport policy as a single unified service for passenger and freight transport/the supply chain.

Second, taking into account the state of national transport data (potential demand and supply) and existing transport services, as well as optimising strategic assets in order to strengthen state sovereignty to support real-time planning and logistics efficiency.

Third, considering input from stakeholders as part of efforts to realise a transport system that is effectively and efficiently integrated.

Fourth, taking into account national development plans as well as global dynamics and developments in adaptive transport technology. Fifth, the availability and sufficiency of competent human resources, funding, and enterprise-related aspects.

Sixth, the imposition of sanctions limited to administrative sanctions, whilst criminal sanctions remain regulated in sectoral laws.
