Transport Minister urges ASDP to continue strengthening ferry service transformation
The management of vehicle and passenger flows that is increasingly organised, strengthened cross-stakeholder coordination, and service optimisation are deemed successful in maintaining smooth public mobility during the homecoming and return flow periods. Jakarta (ANTARA) - Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi is urging PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) to continue strengthening the transformation of national ferry services through strategic collaboration with the government to support public mobility and logistics distribution. The Minister also appreciated ASDP’s performance during the 2026 Lebaran Transport implementation, which was deemed to run well, especially on the main Merak-Bakauheni route, so that this success is expected to become the foundation for strengthening ferry transport services going forward. “The management of vehicle and passenger flows that is increasingly organised, strengthened cross-stakeholder coordination, and service optimisation are deemed successful in maintaining smooth public mobility during the homecoming and return flow periods,” said the Transport Minister in a statement in Jakarta on Friday. This commitment was affirmed during an audience between the ASDP Board of Directors and Transport Minister Dudy in Jakarta, which discussed strengthening operational services, infrastructure readiness, and optimisation of national logistics connectivity. Meanwhile, the number of vehicles crossing was recorded at 1.21 million units, up 8 percent compared to the same period the previous year. This increase reflects high public mobility balanced with optimal ferry service management during the 2026 Lebaran Transport. Nevertheless, the government is also examining the need to strengthen services on several other strategic routes such as Ketapang-Gilimanuk, which still face challenges of logistics density and road access conditions. PT ASDP President Director Heru Widodo expressed appreciation to the government as it becomes motivation for the company to continue making sustainable service improvements. “ASDP conveys thanks for the support and appreciation from the Transport Minister for the Lebaran Transport services that have run well. The evaluation and guidance provided become an important foundation for ASDP to continue strengthening the quality of national ferry services,” said Heru. According to him, the successful operational pattern applied on the Merak-Bakauheni route will serve as a reference for strengthening services on other strategic routes, thus creating an increasingly effective, efficient, and integrated operational system. Several potential routes, including Makassar-Semarang and Panjang-Jakarta, have received government support to be followed up as part of efforts to improve inter-regional goods distribution efficiency. ASDP Corporate Secretary Windy Andale said that the service transformation carried out by ASDP not only focuses on operational smoothness but also builds a increasingly modern ferry transport system based on user needs. “ASDP continues to strengthen service digitalisation, vehicle flow management, and overall operational readiness so that the public obtains a safe, comfortable, and increasingly seamless travel experience,” stated Windy.
