Transport Minister Supports Innovation in Road Traffic and Transportation Sector
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi emphasised the importance of innovation in the road traffic and transportation sector to improve safety, service efficiency, and support sustainable mobility for the public throughout Indonesia. “Sustainability and increased innovation in the road traffic and transportation sector are important, especially those related to safety aspects,” said the minister during the Analysis and Evaluation of the Implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026 in Semarang, as stated in Jakarta on Saturday. The minister stated that this year’s 1447 Hijriah Lebaran transport has implemented various innovations with positive impacts. For example, the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps implemented traffic engineering policies, one of which was the application of a national one-way system on strategic corridors for the homecoming and return flows. That policy smoothed vehicle movement, reduced accident potential, and suppressed fatality rates. According to him, safety must remain the primary orientation for all parties because the success of transportation services is not solely measured by the smoothness of traffic flow, but also by how well it ensures that every public journey is safe and secure. He hopes that the synergy built among stakeholders does not stop at the implementation of the 2026 Lebaran transport alone. He emphasised the importance of that collaboration continuing to face various major transportation agendas in the future.
