Transport Minister: Some Online Travel Agents Offering Small Discounts on Airfares During Eid Holiday Period

TANGERANG — Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has stated that some online travel agents are still offering relatively small discounts on airfares during the Eid holiday period.

The finding was announced after his ministry directly verified airfare prices at Terminal 1C of the Departure Hall at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang on Monday, 16 March 2026.

“We conducted verification of ticket sales displayed by travel agents, and some are expensive,” said Dudy at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Monday.

Based on government calculations, the discount that the public can enjoy is estimated to reach approximately 17 to 18 percent.

However, from several travel agents he encountered through conversations with prospective airline passengers, some are still offering small discounts or below 17 percent.

For this reason, the Ministry of Transport will conduct an evaluation of the relevant parties.

“We hope online travel agents will also support government policy so that the public can truly feel that this policy applies to them,” Dudy said.

In conducting this evaluation, the government will coordinate with several relevant parties, including airlines and bodies overseeing online travel agents.

Despite this, Dudy noted that on several flights, the public can already enjoy airfare discounts of up to approximately 20 percent.
