Transport Minister Reminds That Restrictions on Three-Axle or More Vehicles Still Apply Until 29 March
Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has reminded trucking companies, particularly those operating three-axle or heavier vehicles, that goods transport restrictions during the 2026 Lebaran homecoming traffic flow are still in place until 29 March. “We want to remind again that the restrictions on three axles and above still apply until 29 March,” Dudy stated during a press conference at the Jasa Marga Tollroad Command Centre in Bekasi, West Java, on Wednesday (25/3). Additionally, he mentioned that authorities have recorded 124 trucking companies violating the goods transport restrictions during the 2026 Lebaran homecoming period. “We will summon and issue warnings to those companies. We hope such incidents do not recur during the restrictions. And we can see now, during the return flow, compliance levels are starting to increase. So it is effective that by informing the public about the number of those companies, there has been a decrease in the operation of three-axle vehicles,” Dudy explained. As is known, the current implementation of goods transport restrictions is limited to a Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB). Therefore, Dudy emphasised that it is not impossible to create a higher-level regulation to prevent similar incidents from recurring. “Yes, that will be our evaluation material; we must discuss across sectors, for example, with the Ministry of Public Works, the police, and other ministries. Whether it is necessary to elevate the status from SKB to a higher provision that provides greater punitive power,” he asserted.
