Transport Minister: Public Transport Users Increase by 11.11% up to H+3 of Eid
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi stated that public transport users increased by 11.11% up to H+3 of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, reaching 15.39 million people compared to the same period last year with 13.85 million passengers.
“Based on preliminary monitoring results from the Integrated Eid Transport Command Post 2026, passenger movements on public transport from H-8 (13 March 2026) to H+3 (24 March 2026) totalled 15,397,417 people, up 11.11% from Eid transport in 2025 which was 13,858,086 people,” said Dudy in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He conveyed this during a direct inspection of the return flow conditions at the Jasa Marga Tollroad Command Centre (JMTC) Jatiasih, Bekasi, alongside Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, President Director of PT Jasa Marga Tbk Rivan A. Purwantono, and President Director of Jasa Raharja Muhammad Awaluddin.
Dudy stated that the Ministry of Transport continues to monitor public transport passenger movements during the Eid transport period from H-8 to H+3.
“The data is still dynamic as the calculation process continues until 30 March 2026. We still see potential peak return flows on 28-29 March 2026,” said the Transport Minister.
He also hoped that the public would utilise the work-from-anywhere (WFA) policy as well as the 30% toll discount applied on 26-27 March, valid on nine toll road sections.
“It is hoped that the public can take advantage of this to reduce the congestion we predict will occur on 28 or 29 March,” Dudy remarked.
He also encouraged the public to plan their journeys more wisely so that the return trip can proceed safely and comfortably. With good time management, traffic density is expected to be spread over a longer period.
The Transport Minister also expressed appreciation to the public who, during their journeys home and back, have complied with instructions from on-site officers. This compliance has contributed to a decline in accident rates and fatalities during the Eid transport period.
He further hoped that up to 29 March, accident and fatality rates would decrease so that the public can return safely and soundly.
