Transport Minister Provides Latest Update on KRL Green Line
Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi has provided the latest update on the KRL Green Line serving Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung. According to him, the government and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) will soon carry out a total overhaul so that the line can facilitate trains with 12 carriages in a single set. “We hope the Green Line can achieve this. The number of passengers on the Green Line has increased quite significantly, and we hope that even more passengers can be transported. PT KAI is currently working to prepare 12-carriage trainsets,” he said when met at the Ministry of SMEs in Jakarta, Tuesday (21/7/2026). Dudy stated that the method to be employed is adding electrical substation capacity along the route. “PT KAI will also prepare the electricity supply to support this, because it is very much needed to increase the electrical capacity for the Green Line,” he said. The improvements to the KRL Green Line will be carried out as soon as possible. He hopes that in the future, the queues for the KRL Green Line will not be as long as they currently are. “Faster, as soon as possible, because so far the headway, the distance between trains, is still 10 minutes. I have asked for this to be addressed immediately so that the headway can be shortened, and thus the number of passengers transported can be much higher,” he explained.
