Transport Minister Predicts Peak Exodus Traffic on 18 March 2026
The Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has predicted that the peak Lebaran exodus traffic will occur on 18 March 2026. The government has prepared various anticipatory measures to reduce the potential for congestion during this period.
“The peak exodus traffic is estimated to occur on the 18th (of March),” said Dudy during a working visit to oversee compensation distribution for horse cart drivers at the Garut Police District, Garut Regency, West Java, on Saturday, 14 March 2026.
One effort to maintain the smooth flow, security and order of traffic, according to him, is the government’s implementation of the “work from anywhere” (WFA) policy, which can help distribute departure times so that travellers do not bunch up on a single day.
“With the implementation of WFA, ‘work from anywhere’ is hoped to be distributed across the dates prior to the peak,” he said.
He stated that the government has also prepared various facilities and infrastructure to support the smooth flow of vehicular traffic during the exodus season.
These preparations, he continued, include not only personnel readiness but also the readiness of transport routes through constant coordination among all agencies involved in security and traffic management. “So far, by God’s will, it has been going well and has been properly provided for,” he said.
He appealed to travellers to first plan their journeys properly by considering timing, weather conditions and exodus route information available through various media channels.
“We hope that travellers can plan their journeys properly and always try to obtain information from various media channels,” he said.
