Jakarta — Indonesia’s Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi officially inaugurated the commencement of one-way traffic management, or national one-way system, on the Trans Java Toll Road on Wednesday, three days before Eid 2025 (Lebaran), spanning from kilometre 70 at Cikampek North Toll Gate in West Java to kilometre 414 at Kalikangkung Toll Gate in Semarang, Central Java.

The inauguration of the traffic management scheme was marked with a flag-raising ceremony by Purwagandhi alongside representatives from the national police, Jasa Marga toll operator, and Jasa Raharja insurance company. The one-way system officially commenced at 1:25 p.m. Western Indonesia Time.

“This is a manifestation of the state’s presence to ensure we provide the best service for citizens undertaking the Lebaran mudik journey,” Purwagandhi said after officially implementing the one-way system.

He explained that the traffic management scheme had actually been conducted since Tuesday (17 March), but only as a partial measure, spanning from kilometre 70 to kilometre 263 of the Trans Java Toll Road.

According to Purwagandhi, the expansion of the one-way system was necessitated by increased vehicle volume from travellers using the Trans Java Toll Road towards Central Java.

In addition to inaugurating the one-way system, Purwagandhi also previously distributed gift packages to several travellers positioned at the front of the one-way queue.

The one-way traffic, utilising the right-hand lane towards Central Java, was escorted by three police vehicles. Simultaneously, police had cleared the opposing lane to ensure no vehicles could access the toll road in the opposite direction.

He called upon mudik travellers to remain attentive to instructions and guidance from field personnel.

Despite the implementation of the unobstructed one-way system, he also cautioned drivers to maintain appropriate vehicle speeds.

“The hope is that the journey undertaken by citizens can proceed safely, smoothly, and with full attention to road safety,” he said.
