Transport Minister: Mudik Conditions Running Smoothly Up to H-3 Lebaran
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi stated on Wednesday, or three days before Lebaran, that mudik traffic conditions are proceeding well.
“As of today, mudik activities, praise be to God, have been running smoothly. Several mudik activities, whether by land, sea, air, or train, have all been going well,” said Dudy when met at the Ditlantas Field of the Metro Jaya Police, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
He also appreciated the Indonesian National Police’s initiative to hold a free mudik programme, deeming it very helpful for the public.
“So the public no longer needs to use two-wheeled vehicles for their journeys home. It’s a good programme; hopefully, this will reduce things we don’t want in the public’s travel home,” Dudy remarked.
According to him, the use of buses encourages the public to plan their trips well.
“So hopefully, they will arrive at their hometowns and then return to their respective homes safely, comfortably, and certainly in good health,” Dudy said.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin conveyed a message from President Prabowo Subianto, who wants the public to mudik safely and healthily when heading home.
“Thank you, Mr. National Police Chief, for facilitating so that our people can mudik and also stay healthy during mudik because earlier I saw health checks, and generally everyone is healthy,” Budi stated.
He revealed that the biggest health issue is accidents, which leave mudik travellers heading to their hometowns or returning home in unhealthy conditions.
“However, praise be to God, thanks to Mr. Transport Minister who has significantly improved the facilities and infrastructure, the roads, buses, sea vessels, procedures, and so on, the number of accidents in the last three years has decreased drastically,” Budi disclosed.
