Jakarta — Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, together with West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, inspected the condition of transportation flows and peak season routes across West Java during the 2026 Lebaran holiday transport period.

The inspection was conducted to directly monitor traffic conditions on one of the main routes for holiday travellers.

Cirebon became the first monitoring location. This route is one of the important corridors for the movement of holiday travellers heading towards Central Java and East Java.

Dudy reported that vehicle movement began to increase during the initial period of peak season traffic.

“Based on reports from Jasa Marga, vehicle volume has increased approximately 14 per cent compared to normal conditions,” Dudy said on Sunday (15 March 2026).

“Thus far, there has indeed been an increase, but it is not too high. Based on reports from Jasa Marga, to date there has been an increase of around 14 per cent,” Dudy continued.

The government urged the public to manage their travel times by utilising the work-from-anywhere (WFA) policy.

Travel time management is expected to distribute peak season traffic flows more evenly, thereby reducing potential congestion.

The government also remained cautious about potential traffic disruptions from community activities along peak season routes.

Dudy highlighted activities by residents seeking coins from road users on the Pantura route in the Kalisewo area, Indramayu.

“We hope such activities do not continue. During peak season, the number of vehicles will be very large, so there is potential to disrupt traffic flow,” Dudy said.

“Most importantly, we are also concerned about the safety of our citizens in the Kalisewo area,” Dudy added.

A total of 557 drivers symbolically received financial assistance. Recipients consisted of becak and ojek drivers.

Compensation was provided to drivers affected by operational adjustments during the peak season traffic period.
