Jakarta (ANTARA) - Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi stated that the Ministry of Transport's 2026 budget of Rp28.48 trillion has been prioritised for transport safety, connectivity, and support for the government's national strategic programmes.

"All of the Ministry of Transport's work programmes for the 2026 fiscal year have been structured and directed to consistently prioritise safety factors, enhance connectivity, and improve the quality of national transport services," the Minister said during a working meeting with House of Representatives Commission V in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/2).

The budget will also be used to ensure that the Ministry's work programmes deliver direct benefits and provide the best possible services to the public.

He said that based on a joint letter from the Finance Minister dated 29 September 2025, the Ministry of Transport's budget allocation for the 2026 fiscal year amounts to Rp28.48 trillion.

The distribution of the total budget allocation across the Ministry's echelon I work units comprises: the Secretariat General at Rp576 billion, the Inspectorate General at Rp97 billion, the Directorate General of Land Transport at Rp4.8 trillion, and the Directorate General of Sea Transport at Rp9.6 trillion.

Of the Ministry's Rp28.48 trillion allocation for 2026, Dudy continued, in accordance with Finance Minister Letter No. S-817/MK.03/2025 dated 8 December 2025, the budget was primarily directed towards fulfilling President Prabowo Subianto's priority directives amounting to Rp1.35 trillion.

"As a result, the Ministry of Transport's budget allocation after the prioritisation exercise stands at Rp27.13 trillion," he explained.

In terms of composition, Dudy said, the budget adjustments are spread across all echelon I units within the Ministry, taking into account priority scales and programme implementation effectiveness.

"This policy maintains the continuity of priority programmes and does not reduce the quality of public services or core activities that directly impact the community," he said.

The Transport Minister outlined that in 2026, the Ministry is overseeing a number of national strategic issues stemming from various presidential directives, with a total estimated budget requirement of Rp802.88 billion. These include the acceleration of development in national food, energy, and water self-sufficiency zones with an estimated budget of Rp221.27 billion.

The Ministry will also support the implementation of the People's Schools programme with an estimated budget of Rp22.95 billion.

"All of these policies represent follow-up actions on presidential instructions and decisions aimed at accelerating development, economic recovery, and strengthening public services in the transport sector," the Minister said.

The working meeting also presented an evaluation of the 2025 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) implementation, with realisation reaching 88.88 per cent or Rp28.68 trillion of the effective ceiling of Rp32.27 trillion.
